Green Works’ Green Ink: Volunteer at Clement Forest
April 13, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Green Works’ Green Ink is a bi-monthly program for high school students held during the school year on Saturdays and after school. During Green Ink sessions, students take part in a short environmental lesson and then participate in a community service project aligned to the lesson.
The next session will focus on restoration of the Clement Forest, a beautiful neighborhood forest that used to be an abandoned trash dump. Located near Swope Park and just down the street from Holiday Montessori, the neighborhood has been working with nonprofit Clement Waters to build trails and clear out brush and trash to make this forest accessible and safe for everyone. The project also includes planting trees and a gardens in the forest.
Participants should wear closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. Green Works will provide the tools and the gloves, snacks and water.
Dropoff and parking are along Jackson Avenue south of the bridge at Greogory. The Ride KC #21 bus routes stop two blocks from the site along Cleveland. You can pick up #21 from many E-W streets: St John, Independence, Truman, 18th, 27th, 31st, 39th, Blue Parkway, 55th and 63rd.
